    Abstract
Orbital Outfitters has developed the first emergency pressure suit designed exclusively for commercial spaceflight. Named the Industrial Suborbital Spacesuit (IS3), this suit has a number of features which make it not only highly effective, but also affordable and variable in size to meet the wide range of body types anticipated in commercial spaceflight participants. Achieving the low costs required for commercial spaceflight necessitates many of the innovative features incorporated in the IS3. Efforts are now underway to test and evaluate this suit’s performance as well as to refine the operational and maintenance procedures required for regular commercial operations. This paper describes the basic capabilities of this new suit as well as issues associated with its transition into regular operations including integration challenges, the Federal regulatory environment, operational and maintenance considerations, and understanding passenger requirements.
