- Abstract
The law of outer space recognizes that both governmental and non-governmental entities have the right to utilize the resources of outer space. From telecommunications to tourism, it is clear that profit is permitted in space. Although fundamental legal concepts relevant to commercialization have been enunciated in the major space treaties, uniformity of interpretation has been lacking, and agreement on specific principles has been elusive. The legal landscape becomes even more murky when the use of extraterrestrial resources is considered. This paper examines the recent trends in interpretation and recommendations for the rights of entrepreneurs in the corpus juris spatialis.
