    Abstract
ABSTRACT: In the context of recent developments in national space law, this paper will examine the French Space Operations Act of 2008 and the South African National Space Agency Act of December 2008. These pieces of national legislation from two nations, which are quite different in terms of development of space technology and operations, will be analyzed with a view of determining whether they are in line with the trends earlier initiated by other space-faring states or somehow begin a new style of space governance at national level. Finally, the paper will attend to if any lessons can be learned by other space-faring or space-aspiring nations from these two legislative developments.
