- Abstract
Following preliminary discussions in Galveston, Texas, USA in February 2010, a group of 13 space agencies and companies as well as several professional and research organizations agreed in March 2010 to establish an International Space Program/Project Management Committee (IMPC) under the auspices of the International Astronautical Federation. At a preliminary meeting of the IPMC, hosted by ESA, the IPMC participants agreed to exchange information on course materials from space agencies and companies conducting international program management courses. The group plans to review these materials with a view toward identifying common principles and practices that might be incorporated into a reference international project management curriculum which can be made available to any organization interested in preparing its space program and project managers for international collaborative activities. The IPMC plans to present the results of this review and to discuss its recommended next steps in a presentation to interested organizations during the session on “Space Workforce Development: Challenges and Opportunities” at the 2010 International Astronautical Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.
