- Abstract
The risks of space debris impact increase with the raise of space debris magnitude. More and more countries and institutions are plunging into the area of space debris. Commonly, most researchers are interesting in impacts between spacecraft and debris, less efforts are given to solar array. The paper gave a space solar cell design model for debris protection and proved it with experiments. Results shows that the protect method may keep 80 percents initial power output of solar cells after chasing impacts. This gave a new view of solar array debris protection. The paper also discussed the probabilities of solar array debris protection and pointed the technology will be prospective in very special cases.
