    Abstract
The 20cm ion thruster load simulator was designed in order to perform electric characteristics tests of the ion propulsion system at satellite platform level, where real ion thruster firing are not readily available.Besides, the simulator can be uesed to evaluate the characteristics of PPU. This paper describes the design of the simulator in detail, including its configuration, funciton analysis, interface, and software.

The equivalent loads of ion thruster are simulated by using static ohmic resistances. The operating state in accordance with ion thruster, not only the static operating state under nominal conditions, but also the representative malfuntion state at failure, can been simulated by switching on these resistors at suitable values. The load simulator can provide other functions with or without a computer, including switch on loads manually and automatically, and to sample and save up voltages of each load.
