    Abstract
In a bid to assess the effectiveness of the “Catch Them Young” Initiative of the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. An exercise was introduced in the outreach programmes to measure how well students understood what they were taught. The method employed is a before and after assessment.
This activity was made a core part of the activities that take place when schools visit the space museum at the centre. PowerPoint presentations on space related topics, a guided tour of the space museum amongst other things are the activities the students participate in. The class grade is usually from Junior Secondary School Level 1-Senior Secondary School Level 2 depending on each visiting school. The students were made to express their knowledge on a given topic either in form of writing or drawing in a given time frame then a 20 -30 minutes lecture is given after which they are asked to write again on the same subject. The scripts are then graded and compared. Over time, the results and observations made has formed part of the innovations and improvements in presentations during outreach activities and the teaching of space science at various class grades.
This paper hereby presents how this was achieved and other ongoing interactive activities aimed at improving space science knowledge amongst Nigerian kids.
