    Abstract
A group of 40 space enthusiasts came together in August 2010 in Washington DC for an ‘unconference’ entitled “SpaceUpDC” to share information about space-related projects they work on. This conference was live tweeted by participants, who continued to share information over twitter after the event. Several sessions of the ‘unconference’ explored methods of outreach to the general public. This paper will explore the effects of the use of Twitter at and after this conference.

Twitter and other social networking tools connects like minded people across the world to share their interests, studies, and ideas. This paper will argue that harnessing such social networking tools will allows space enthusiasts to connect with those who may never have formed an interest in the field themselves.
