    Abstract
    Subsequent to the United Nations General assembly endorsement of the establishment of five centre’s for space science and technology education at the regional level in developing countries. The African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in English (ARCSSTE-E) was established at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria on 24 November 1998. This is with a main goal to develop indigenous skills, knowledge and  capacity through rigorous theory, research, applications, field exercises and pilot projects, that can enhance socio-economic development  in the core areas of Remote sensing and GIS, Satellite communication, Satellite meteorology and Global climate and Basic and Atmospheric sciences applications. Since inception therefore, the programme has organized series of training and provided support and for quite a number of students from various Anglophone countries. This paper therefore, presents the status and the future of the programme in achieving its mandate as recommended at the at the second United Nation conference on the exploration and peaceful uses of the Outer space in 1982.
