    Abstract
At the present stage Ukraine is in the process of forming a new space policy aimed at meeting urgent national needs. Ukraine carries out space activities on the basis of equality with other countries in accordance to international space legislation, taking into consideration its own national interests. Ukraine belongs to the space states not only because of the characteristics of its space capabilities, but also due to its ability to practically implement innovative space projects.
High status of Ukrainian space industry is reflected by the following projects: unique international project «Sea Launch» (Ukraine, USA, Russia, Norway); launch site construction for «Cyclon-4» rocket at «Alcantara» (Brazil) launch centre; development and deployment of «EgyptSat» satellite (Egypt); promising international experimental space project "Ionosat» designed to study Earth ionosphere; other projects.
"Ionosat» is a unique national project of Ukrainian space industry relevant to the issues of the global community. Implementation of "Ionosat" would create a space system for comprehensive studies of ionospheric and solar-terrestrial interactions and their impact on technological and biological processes on Earth (space monitoring system of natural and technogenic disasters).
Access to space and realization of innovative space projects objectively increases Ukraine’s influence in relations with its strategic partners and in the processes of integration into European structures.
