- Abstract
Ziyuan 3(ZY-3)satellite is the latest Chinese stereo imaging satellite. It was successfully launched on Jan 9th,2012.The mission of ZY-3 satellite is to provide sufficient data, which enable to generate 1 to 50000 scale-based maps over china.ZY-3 has a panchromatic Three-linear-array CCD camera and a multispectral CCDcamera.the fore, back, nadir and multispecial camera provide resolution of 3.5m,3.5m,2.1m and 5.8m respectively. This paper briefly reviews the course of ZY-3 research and manufacture, and introduces subsequent satellite projects in the future. It specifies the flight mission, system configuration, payload technical features and on- orbit state about ZY-3.Based on the on-orbit data, the primary point accuracy and application of ZY-3 are evaluated. The results prove that the ZY-3 satellite is capable to meet the requirement of 1 to 50000 scale mapping.
