    Abstract
At the beginning of 2012 the UK government announced the establishment of a Satellite Applications Catapult Centre to stimulate innovation in the UK commercial space sector.
This closely follows the establishment in May 2011 of the UK International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) and the opening in July 2009 of the ESA Harwell Integrated Applications Centre.

It is widely anticipated that the combination and proximity of the capabilities of these organisations will create a dynamic environment for the development of innovative integrated applications in the UK. This paper will describe the aims and aspirations of the Catapult Centre and how it intends to work with the ISIC and ESA in pursuit of this goal.
