- Abstract
The Milky Way Club is a local astronomical and space sciences’ club at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. It was just a bright dream that clustered with great enthusiasm, high ambition, and strong support. The mission of the club is to foster a spirit of interest in the field of astronomy and space sciences within PMU female campus. The club main objective is to broaden the horizons of young ladies in Saudi Arabia about the universe they live in and to facilitate and foster their contribution to the field of astronomy and space sciences. The club members believe in what Goddard, who successfully launched the world’s first liquid-filled rocket in 1926, said, that “the dreams of yesterday are the hopes of today and the reality of tomorrow”. This great believe made a difference in the concept of space sciences at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University. In fact, the Milky Way Club follows a unique approach to promote the interest. In this paper we will analyze the goals and approaches of the Milky Way Club. After that, we will magnify the effect of the activities. Based on the study, we will inventory a list of innovations that is needed in astronomy and space science education and outreach programs to foster the interest.
