- Abstract
The Multilateral Human Research Panel for Exploration (MHRPE), responding to the Space Station Control Board, coordinates and facilitates multinational human research related to risk reduction for human space exploration beyond low Earth orbit, across the ISS partners, with particular emphasis on research requiring ISS resources. NASA's Human Research Program (HRP)chairs the MHRPE through its newly-formed International Science Office (ISO). ISO will be responsible for integrating HRP and other ISS Partner assets into an international research portfolio coordinated to the fullest extent possible. Additionally, ISO will work with multilateral and bilateral implementation groups identified in the strategy white paper to coordinate their individual documents and processes that support MHRPE objectives and will also produce and manage integrated documents and processes that cross these implementation groups. In addition, ISO will oversee the HRP and NASA implementation of the human research program for the one-year mission of a US astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut on ISS starting in March 2015. An integrated US-Russian human research program, with participation by other ISS Partners, will maximize the scientific return of this flight opportunity oriented toward reducing risk for next generation exploration missions. This paper will describe progress in mutilateral human research efforts in genral and the ISS one-year mission in particular.- Abstract document
