    Abstract
    In the period 2010-2015 thanks to the number of new space infrastructures available in Europe (GMES, Galileo, Pleiades, Spot6, Alphasat ...), the economic development of services using space data will increase significantly in areas as diverse as the monitoring and resource management, land use planning, assistance to people and many other areas of high socio-economic impact.
    The Midi-Pyrénées region is the european capital for jobs in the space sector and wants to consolidate its leading position in optimally developping its offer of space applications at both national and international levels. It is an opportunity for a significant leap forward in consolidating and developing the market shares of players and associated jobs in the region.
    With the aim to increase the chances of capturing a majority of the expected growth, the industrial players in the space sector associated with the regional development agency decided to create a business institute dedicated to space applications in order to :
    \begin{itemize}\item Create a dedicated environment connecting operational offers of companies with territories\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item Build a storefront able to attract international partners\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item Make Midi-Pyrenées the heart of the European "business space applications"\end{itemize}
    We aim to achieve:
    \begin{itemize}\item a catalog of existing applications and their contributions\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item the proposition of awareness sessions and training of potential users\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item the development of pilot areas for the effective use of applications and evaluating their benefits\end{itemize}
    The goals are multiple:
    \begin{itemize}\item To Structure the supply and the regional ecosystem\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item To Support the distribution of applications to users\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item To Strengthen local structure and group actions at national and international\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item To Build relationships with stakeholders in the downstream \end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item To Attract new investors / stakeholders and forge international partnerships\end{itemize}
    \begin{itemize}\item To Consolidate development strategy\end{itemize}
    The first pilot areas must take action soon in June 2012 with the first applications, the first awareness modules for users & prescribers and a first version of the catalog are taking place.
    The final paper will detail the structure of this business institute and actions implemented.
