    Abstract
    The development course and the present statement of the meteorological satellite in China was introduced in this paper. The meteorological satellite in China started from the sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite, then two series satellites have developed, including FY-1and FY-3 of the sun-synchronous orbit meteorological satellite and FY-2 and FY-4(under prepare)of the geosynchronous orbit meteorological satellite. Now seven meteorological satellites are stationary and normal working in the sky. It makes the meteorological satellites of china become an important member of GEOSS. The meteorological satellite install of the payload from one of  near infrared and visible sensor, development for overlay UV、visible、infrared、microwave etc. The whole wave band, and have ability of multi-payloads observation meantime. In this paper, the development trend of the meteorological satellite, new type meteorological detection of elements and the development trend of the payload in China were analyzed.
    In the technology aspect, through the compares with the international level currently of the meteorological satellite, especially analyses the characteristic of the meteorological satellite of the United States, Europe, Japan etc., and the distance between the Chinese and the international level country. In order to satisfy the urgent requirements in the sides of the hydrology, agriculture, disaster prevention, national security and influence etc., we have to develop the meteorological satellite of china, and put the development propose and key technologies of our country meteorological satellite.
