    Abstract
Aerospace companies, commercial or government, use a redline process to reflect any changes made to a document. In the test phase, these redlines are generally made to test procedures and drawings. The method that has been used and still used by some companies consists of mark ups typically using a red pen made in a printed copy of the document. This paper will explore the effectiveness and issues of the redline process on procedures and drawings occurring during tests. Current redline processes used in the aerospace industry will be discussed, accompanied by cognitive functions, challenges, and scientific processes. Many companies are trying to incorporate a more efficient redline process through the use of advanced computer-based tools. The interaction between the user and these proposed tools will be investigated to find out whether they help with the release process or if they instead make it more complicated. Organizational and safety culture as well as training provided to the personnel are analyzed in the paper, along with proposed implementation of recommendations.
