- Abstract
After the successful launch and operation of the former first-ever Colombian satellite Libertad 1 (Launched on April 17, 2007), the Universidad Sergio Arboleda at Bogotá-Colombia, pursuing the consolidation of the aerospace field as an institutional strategy, started activities towards the development of the second Colombian Cubesat the Libertad 2. The project aims at designing, building, assembling and launching a 3U Cubesat conveying a payload able to perform the evaluation under harsh conditions. The 3U Cubesat will include a camera for earth observation purposes and will validate models for control and distribution of power. The outcome of the project will bring extensive knowledge around the design, manufacturing, assembling and operation of Cubesats to perform practical space missions.
