    Abstract
    This paper will cover the need for National Disaster Management Systems, their design and deployment internationally and the Importance of Databases in such national systems. 
    
    The paper focuses on the experiences in the area of tools and technology in support of integrated applications,various issues associated with the design of Disaster Management systems utilising space and ground data, the kind of data required, the data collection, organisation and integration for a seamless rendering in times of need.
    
    Also addressed are the key experiences in practices and Procedures in such an exercise so that, they will be useful as a reference in such endeavours by others.
