    Abstract
The Hosted Payload Alliance is a trade association serving as a bridge between government and private industry to foster open communication between potential users and providers of hosted payload capabilities. The speaker will discuss the role of the Hosted Payload Alliance to educate stakeholders in industry and government and to organize forums for discussions, ranging from policy to mission concepts and addressing acquisition strategies as well as operations of hosted payloads. The key note address will describe the potential benefits, challenges, and policy enablers associated with commercially hosted payloads. The speaker will identify the technical, contractual, policy, and programmatic issues that drive the future of the concept. The concept for commercially hosting government payloads is picking up momentum because of the demonstrated success of early pathfinders and the pragmatic need for governments worldwide to find more affordable solutions for vital government and scientific missions in space.
