    Abstract
The Swedish National Space Board (SNSB) is the government agency responsible for funding of research and technology in Sweden. SNSB has set up a suite of national programmes for research and development to complement ESA programmes. This way the agency is making sure that there are paths forward for all technology readiness levels (TRL) as well as all sizes of companies. There are mechanisms in place to encourage cooperation between industry and academia. The paper will detail the various national programmes and how they connect to the relevant ESA programmes. The author gives examples of how this national system works to enable innovative solutions to be taken all the way to flight qualification and space products.
