International space related activities at NAROM

- Abstract
This paper is about some of the space related educational activities at the Norwegian Centre for Space-related Education (NAROM). The focus in this paper will be on international projects and activities at NAROM that are also open for participants outside of Norway. NAROM host about 70 different kinds of space related activity every year reaching over 3500 pupils, students and teachers. Several of these activities has participants outside of Norway. Currently NAROM is running the Nordic European Space Education Recourse Office in collaboration with ESA, Denmark, Sweden and Finland, providing teacher-training courses for teachers from the same Nordic countries. The content and some of the results so far from the ESERO Nordic will be presented in this paper. The European Space Camp is a summer camp for pupils in the age 16-19 years of age were they learn about rocketry, basic electronics and they get to launch their own rocket up to 10 km altitude. The Nordic teacher space camp is a similar course but for teachers from the Nordic countries. The last few years NAROM has also hosted CanSat teacher training courses for European teachers and CanSat competitions for high school students in collaboration with ESA. For university students NAROM has hosted student rocket courses within the CaNoRock program, a collaboration between Norwegian and Canadian Universities. In addition, students from Switzerland attended this course for the first time in February 2014. NAROM is a partner in a research project for the high north focusing on remote sensing using different kinds of platform such as satellites and unmanned aerial systems. NAROM is in charge of the outreach package that includes hosting summer camps for Master and PhD students that is also open for students outside of Norway. NAROM has also had students from Sweden and the Netherlands taking their internship at NAROM. In March 2014, NAROM opens up a new science and learning centre called Space Ship Aurora. This will not only be open for participants at NAROM but also for the public. Up to 20 students can run a mission in the Space Ship Aurora with a science team, ground support and a flight crew in the space ship aurora. Several of the international opportunities for pupils, students, teachers and public at NAROM will be presented in the paper.
