    Abstract
The development of different mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of space activities either through the International Code of Conduct of the European Union or the work of the expert committee on the UN Committee for the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, are important developments and should concern all countries and not only space faring nations .

Latin America is a recent actor in space activities, but have a significant development in space, however, has so far been a bit away from the discussions on sustainability in space .

This fact have several reasons , for example, the fact that Latin American experts did not participate in these discussions, that Latin American countries were not called to participate in the ICOC at first or just ignorance on the subject.

A first problem is whether there is a unique or similar position of the countries of the region on the notion of sustainability. A second problem is to know how they could express the Latin American perspective. Finally , there is uncertainty about the firm or adoption of these measures by all countries, which the most important element to give a real effectiveness to these developments .

This paper will seek to establish the Latin American vision on the subject of sustainability and the expose the different positions that can be taken on these developments by the countries of the region and to finally, will try to determine how these new developments will influence the national spatial policies in the region.
