In 1967 Bulgaria joins the program ‘Intercosmos’ and begins work in the field of space biology and medicine. For the first Bulgarian astronaut in April 1979 was developed a special program for medical, biological and psychological experiments and assessments. It has tree basic directions: - Study the job profile diagram of the astronaut with accent on the influence of the space flight over psychic and adaptation to the flight. The astronaut is advised to make some observations during the flight for investigation. - Medical - psychological selection of the astronauts with a complex of assessment of cognition, psychomotor and emotional sphere and personal characteristics. - Medical – psychological assessments before and after the flight of the First Bulgarian astronaut to study the influence of the flight over him. For this purpose was developed the experiment “Operator”. The apparatus “Sredec” is created by scientists K.Zlatarev, G.Radkovski and E.Pandov. It is a tool to study the space flight influence over mental workability, attention, operating memory, psychic stability. This is the first apparatus with such function in the space science. The apparatus receives ground implementation for professional selection of the operators.
