- Abstract
European Space Agency has been collaborating with multilateral development organizations since 2008 with the objective to mainstream the latest Earth Observation applications to their working practices and to build up their capacity to use geospatial information, and remote sensing in particular, in the development context. The six year program of work with the four key institutions: World Bank Group, Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank, and International Fund for Agricultural Development resulted in over 60 projects bringing EO to decision makers in developing countries. The initiative designed to support public sector users (mainly government agencies) have also contributed to the increased use of Earth observation in preparation, implementation and evidence-based monitoring and evaluation of the international development projects. The presentation will give the overview of these past achievements and a way forward for the ESA initiative.
