- Abstract
The Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program was conceived as an experiment to fill the seasonal gap in the International Space University's inter-disciplinary space education offerings. The University of South Australia has a long history of achievement in space activities and was pleased to partner with ISU in establishing the new program, with financial assistance for the first three years from the Australian Space Research Program. The five week live-in program is now self-sustaining and the partners are planning to hold it for a fifth time in Adelaide, Australia in January 2016. This paper will outline some of the academic achievements to date and will highlight the importance of the program in building space capability in the Global South.
