- Abstract
Universities have been a rich source of ideas in research that leads to new products of processes for commercial exploitation. This has been true also in space and, over the last 35 years, particularly in the filed of small satellites. Starting with the first modern microsatellites pioneered by the University of Surrey in 1980, small satellites have continued to change the economics of space and widening space access from solely the superpowers to within reach of every university and small business.
