- Abstract
The government of Korea invested about 316 million USD on the space sector in 2013. This is up to more than 59\% compared with 2012. In 2013, it also announced the Middle and Long Term Space Development Plan (up to 2040) and the Industrialization Strategy of Space Technology. These recent efforts contributed to increasing the competitiveness of Korean space industries. To support these national policies, study on the status of Korean space sector has been reported since 2005. This paper examines the landscape of the activities of Korea space industries, research institutes and universities in 2013. It shows revenue, budget, human resources, export and import of the players. Korea is now under developing Korean Space Launch Vehicle-II (KSLV-II), Geostationary Korea Multi-Purpose Satellites (GEO-KOMPSAT) and Compact Advanced Satellites (CAS) to satisfy various public needs and strengthen the space industries. The result of this study will help to make detailed strategies to generate better socio-economic impact through those programs.
