- Abstract
Chinese aerospace systems engineering is an important kind of soft power of China's aerospace industry, and is also the recipe for the success of China's aerospace industry. China Academy of Aerospace Systems Science and Engineering (CASE) has done a lot of work to explore the origin, development process and content of Chinese aerospace systems engineering, and to spread the approach to society and economy areas. In 2013, CASE carried out a project "Interview Systems Engineering Specialists". This project interviewed more than 50 specialists in aerospace, economy and society domain, including Jian Song, Jiadong Sun, Enjie Luan etc. They introduced the origin, development process, different content, various applications of systems engineering in China. From 2014, Party History Research Centre of CCCPC and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) carried out a project "Oral Account Mr. Hsue Shen Tsien", CASE was responsible for the project execution. By now, this project has interviewed more than 40 specialists, including Tsien's son, Tsien's secretary, Jifa Gu, Jingyu Yu and Tsien's other colleagues and students. Tsien was not only the pioneer and founder of China's aerospace industry, but also the pioneer and founder of Chinese aerospace systems engineering. The interviewees introduced the background for Tsien to found Chinese aerospace systems engineering, the process to improve the approach, the successful applications and the blueprint drawn by Tsien to spread the approach. With these work, CASE has found the origin, development process, the spread application and developed theory of Chinese aerospace systems engineering. Chinese aerospace systems engineering follows the general principles of systems engineering, and reflects the characteristics of China's aerospace industry and China's tradition. It continues to develop with the times, and has a promising application in many areas.
