- Abstract
One of the most important topics today in the field of space law is the issue of the protection of the environment, specially the problem the space debries. Nevertheless, the topic of the contamination of the space is unknown by the majority of the people and the implications are not understood by the public. However, two recent movies, Gravity (2013) and of Space Cowboys (2000), show in an interesting way the problems of contamination of the space either by spaces debries or the utilization of nuclear weapon. They are based in cases that could be real or at list the subject have foundation in the reality. This paper seeks to study these two films from a legal analysis based on the corpus iuris spatialis to determine if the topic of the space environment protection and of the use of weapon are treated whit exactitude in the movies. In addition the issues on State responsibility and liability will be analyzed. Finally, it will show how the use of these films can be beneficial to the teaching of space law and provide a first approximation of the public to the problem of space contamination, space law and sustainable development of space activities
