- Abstract
From the hostile space environment to the forces harnessed within massive rocket engines, humans traveling into outer space face a myriad of deadly hazards, and extreme measures must be taken in order to protect the fragile human body from harm. This paper discusses several of the most advanced and bizarre proposals for future life support architectures, including liquid-breathing submersion systems and bio-inspired genetic engineering.
