- Abstract
Airbus Defence and Space have been very active in Active Debris Removal since the early 2000’s and have worked extensively for ESA, DLR, CNES and through internal R&D. Amongst others, Airbus DS are currently studying the e.deorbit mission for ESA (phase B1 ongoing) and are one of the major contributor of the In-Orbit Demonstration mission RemoveDEBRIS sponsored by the European Commission and planned for 2017. The company is also developing key technologies for Active Debris Removal such as Vision Based Navigation for rendezvous and robotic arm, net and harpoon for capture. In synergy with Active Debris Removal activities, Airbus DS have also invested in the development of on-orbit servicing solutions at large. In particular, Airbus DS are currently developing a product line for space tugs aimed at satellite delivery and satellite servicing. Airbus DS will present: • Their global vision for Active Debris Removal and On-Orbit servicing • The key technologies under development at Airbus DS • The current activities at Airbus DS on Active Debris Removal (including e.deorbit and RemoveDEBRIS), • The current activities at Airbus DS on On-Orbit Servicing in particular the space tug product line.
