    Abstract
Connectivity is a critical need. For it is and, increasingly will be, at the heart of governments considerations since it has become the symbol of a modern and sustainable society, linking National Public Policies and Citizens. And yet, access to broadband connectivity remains limited in many parts of the planet, especially in isolated areas.

Satellite-based solutions will play a leading, transformational role in bringing broadband connectivity everywhere.

The deployment of a nationwide broadband infrastructure is a matter of political will and many countries have recently invested in satcom technologies to complete and expand their terrestrial infrastructures.

Through satellites, the interconnection between government bodies has been facilitated, improving the efficiency of National Public Policies and making them more visible by the Citizens. Provision of universal access services, knowledge dissemination, spread of e-services are some examples of the benefits brought by a nationwide satellite-based system.

Over the past few years, in order to move quickly and efficiently in this fast-evolving environment, Thales Alenia Space has significantly invested in new technologies to enable Space to undertake its own “Connectivity Revolution”. We are indeed looking forward to exciting times ahead.

Thales Alenia Space’s portfolio includes today a wide palette of smart technologies and solutions, unique to this industry, giving countries the very best opportunity to create and capture value in what will be a ‘connectivity for all citizens’ marketplace.

A satellite project is a challenging adventure with high barrier to entry, and Thales Alenia Space has taken into account all the different aspects of this adventure - technologies, financing, roll-out, competency acquisition, etc… - to be able to come up to governments with a suitable and affordable solution.

The paper will describe in detail the actions initiated by Thales Alenia Space to make Space Accessible and Affordable to all countries.
