    Abstract
    During the last few years, the UN has promoted international cooperation on Space Weather awareness, studies and monitoring. Meanwhile, recent modifications of the Civil Protection Law in Mexico include specific mentions to space hazards and space weather phenomena.  The Mexican Space Weather Service (SCIESMEX) was created in 2014 and it is operated by the Geophysics Institute at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). To monitor space weather conditions, SCIESMEX combines open access satellite data with a local network of different ground instruments covering solar, interplanetary, geomagnetic, and ionospheric observations. SCIESMEX became a Regional Warning Center of the International Space Environment Services (ISES) in October 2014, and participates in the Inter-progamme Coordination Team on Space Weather (ICTSW) of the Word Meteorological Organization (WMO). SCIESMEX collaborates with the Mexican Space Agency (AEM) and the National Prevention Center of Natural Hazards (CENAPRED) to implement national policies of civil protection in space weather. We present a report of recent activities towards a space weather civil protection strategy in Mexico.
