- Abstract
The Mexican Space Agency has been working to develop a national strategy to build the national capacities and the space infrastructure to secure the purpose defined on the Law that establish the AEM. Space infrastructure is the backbone that supports and connects satellite space systems for national security applications, disaster management and early warning, connectivity, social benefits, environmental sustainability and scientific and technological research. The main instrument of public policy is the National Space Activities Program (NSAP) and under this instrument the two key priorities is how using space science and technology is possible to help to solve social needs and how we can develop a space industry in Mexico. The NSAP will provide a way to develop activities with a vision for 30 years, including how Mexico will be part of the international efforts to participate on the great space endeavours. This paper will present the general overview of NSAP and what actions the AEM has been taken on their initial 4 years to set the foundations to truly develop the space infrastructure and the national capacities that Mexico needs.
