On July 4, 2015, Space Club FUTA held the first Asteroid Day event in Nigeria for the benefit of the University community in particular, and Nigeria in general. The goal was to enlighten everyone in Nigeria – the young and the old – of the consequences of an Asteroid impact in the country. On January 15th, 2016, the Space Club FUTA organized an event titled “Earth Day: Climate Action” aimed at promoting Climate Change awareness and exhibiting products and Inventions mitigating Climate Change. The event which had participants from Nigeria, Ghana and the United Kingdom had a great turn-out as hundreds of students and young professionals came from across to learn about climate change; its effects, how it can be reduced and how the Earth can be made a better place to live in.
