    Abstract
This paper will explain the rationale for the establishment of The Hague Space Resources Governance Working Group in 2015, and report on the work carried out during its first year of activity.

It will explain the purpose and objectives of the working group, and set out its structure, working method and membership.

A report will be provided on the progress made so far regarding the discussions about possible building blocks for a future governance system for the use of space resources.

Results of the first face-to-face meeting of the group, to be held in Leiden in April 2016, will be analyzed, and an indication of future work will be given.

All authors are closely involved with the creation and activities of the working group.
