Successful Model of South-South Cooperation: the China-Brazil Earth Resource Satellites(CBERS) Project for about 30 Years

- Abstract
The space cooperation of China and Brazil is began from 1984. The mission objective of CBERS is to provide exploration, development, administration and supervision service，via advanced space remote sensing technology to enhance development and application of remote sensing and space technology for two countries. Until now, five CBERS satellites were launched （ 01/02，02B，03/04 ), and CBERS 04A satellite is on the way for cooperative development. CBERS 04A resolution reached PAN 2m, MS 8m, swath reached 90km, which reached the advanced level among same type camera; the attitude maneuvering capability, attitude control precision, GEO-location and data transmission storage capability reached main stream level of international land resource satellite. The cooperation between China and Brazil follows the international convention, creates a series of effective management modes for international space project development. The project management team is established, carries out the management work according to the international general management mode. Both China and Brazil indicated the willingness to further the collaboration in aerospace field. Through the development of CBERS, the collaboration of China, Brazil has been promoted. The data is global shared and make great contribution to the global development. CAST will strengthen the national cooperation based on the principle of equality, openness and reciprocity, and expect to make more contributions to the economic and social development of China, Brazil and other developing countries.
