    Abstract
The launch of Himawari-8 marked the start of a new generation of advanced meteorological satellites. Over the next few years the Asia-Oceania region will benefit from even more new data from a range of advanced geostationary satellites including GEO-KOMPSAT-2A, FY-4, GOES-R and Electro-L, and polar orbiting satellites including the Copernicus series, OceanSat-3 and GCOM-W. These satellites will have increasingly sophisticated technologies, more spectral bands and finer spatial resolutions. One of the exciting challenges facing the Bureau is maximising the benefits from the available satellite data. New generation satellites provide the opportunity to engage with users and design products and services that better meet their needs.

This presentation will focus on some of the satellite application development in the Bureau, and will cover the value of the current and planned satellite products to the Bureau’s research, operational and commercial users.
