- Abstract
Astronomy and space exploration rely heavily on data and facts. Scientific minds have achieved great breakthroughs which have helped us as a race to get to the moon and see billions of light-years away. However, it is essential that creativity is considered an asset to furthering current space technology. Considering the past, we see authors and directors who imagined methods of space travel and technology long before the scientific community had even broken ground on such methods. From Jules Verne’s description of a rocket in his 1865 novel ‘From the Earth to the Moon’ to the multiple devices Star Trek portrayed; Much of today’s technology has drawn inspiration from science fiction media. Focus on creativity and imagination beyond what we believe to be a current possibility is crucial for the advancement of space exploration. You can not invent that which has not first been imagined.
