    Abstract
    The space elevator is not technically feasible yet.  However, the principles of the space elevator are understandable.  It is not difficult for high school students and undergraduates who studied mechanics, electromagnetism, and thermodynamics.  Furthermore, it is meaningful for the general public to know the social significance of the space elevator.  Therefore, a textbook of physics on the theme of the space elevator for students and an enlightenment book of the space elevator for the general public were published.  The textbook that was written for mainly high school students and undergraduates was written for problem based learning on the theme of the space elevator.  The students can learn the space elevator and physics at the same time by using this textbook.  On the other hand, the enlightenment book for the general public is written about social significance and challenges to realization of the space elevator.  In this paper, we introduce the contents of the textbook and the enlightenment book and discuss the importance of outreach activities on the space elevator.
