    Abstract
The Planetary Society is an internationally active non-profit organization that works to engage the world’s citizens in support of space science and exploration. For 30 years The Planetary Society’s volunteer program has been a key mechanism for public outreach and education. Today, the Global Volunteer Network comprises a worldwide community of passionate volunteers who create and drive innovative educational outreach programs tailored to diverse communities. As of 2017 The Planetary Society works with 44 volunteer Outreach Coordinators in 18 countries who develop unique outreach projects. Each Outreach Coordinator is responsible for a specific region, bringing together members, partnering with local organizations, and reaching out to their local public to educate and inspire. These volunteers enable The Planetary Society to engage in truly global outreach campaigns, to celebrate space exploration mission milestones and to advocate for the future exploration of the solar system. This presentation will provide an overview of the structure and activities of The Planetary Society’s Global Volunteer Network and Outreach Coordinator program in particular.
