- Abstract
Karl Cerny, an Austrian car mechanic, started 1931 building a series of liquid propelled rocket engines, which he tested on an old Bugatti chassis. In 1933 his liquid propelled rocket car was successfully tested and reached a speed of 70 km/h. He failed to get the necessary funding’s to transfer his rocket engine into a sailplane as the next step to high speed airplane transportation.
