    Abstract
    This paper is an overview on space debris mitigation legislations under development in the UAE. The instrument includes different creative considerations to ensure a balanced regulations such as: suitability of the UAE developing space sector, economic impact and suitable costs on operators and maturity advancement during the implementation of the instrument. This has been concluded based on the benchmarking studies and best practices on the international, regional and national levels. 
    The paper will first demonstrate the different models of space debris mitigation adopted by the international, regional and national levels. Then it will demonstrate space debris mitigation instrument mapping between international space debris mitigation and some of the national space debris mitigation instruments. Beside that, the paper will discuss other discrete space debris legislations and mechanisms adopted by other countries. The UAE space debris mitigation instrument structure will be discussed in more details in the presentation. 
    Currently, the estimated number of Space Debris is approximated to be around 500,000 pieces and it is expected to triple by 2030 due to the increase of satellite constellation launches. The UAE has recognized that the increasing number of Space Debris constitutes a threat in outer space, while in orbit, and on earth during re-entry. Therefore, it was very keen to develop mechanisms and regulatory instruments in relation to this topic. It also recognized the importance of international partnership in exchange of information and capacity building.
