    Abstract
    Mexico has a big challenge to bring connectivity to small rural communities. These communities present the problem to be small (less that 2000 habitants) highly disperse geographically and on difficult access conditions mainly due the orography.
    
    The Mexican Government has made a great effort to provided connectivity to these communities as one of the key priorities. The new advanced satellite services looks like an alternative to fulfil this social necessity. 
    
    This paper presents the scenario and actual solutions in place in Mexico to provided connectivity to rural communities and also discuss the new advanced satellite services and how this can help to solve the limitations on connectivity. A financial scenario is also presented in order to discuss the viability of the implementations.
