    Abstract
    The Air and Space Museum of Beihang University, in many ways, like any other air and space museums in the world, plays space education and social action roles. But it is also a very different museum, because its function depends heavily on the place in which it operates. It provides an extraordinarily rich and prestigious resource for the space higher education. The unique air and space collections of the museum offer a vital historical dimension to research, especially for the development history of China Space Science, Technology, and Engineering. Officially, the Air and Space Museum of Beihang University is operated by one of school of university and supports academic teaching and research activities outside class. It is widly used by professors for teaching not only for students majored in aeronautics and astronautics, but also used for inspiring students with different academic background and enhance their learning across different disciplines At same time, it also opens to the public and addresses the public needs for the knowledge of space and air history, technology and culture. The paper describes the multi-roles and impact of air and space museum of Beihang University on space education and space culture heritage, presents the space education and research activities at the museum, reflects on ways in which the museum try its best to address different visitors’ needs, celebrates its exceptional contribution to the quality and impact of inspiring public interests in space exploration of mankind and raising the profile of higher education in air and space through competitions, interacting programs with local primary and middle schools.
