    Abstract
As we try to colonize Mars into Planet Two, the importance of efficient transport to and from it increases. The Mars moons Phobos and Deimos may offer potential as way stations, for energy generation, for propellant mining and for other infrastructure, pending verification of in situ conditions by serious prospecting.

Besides by rockets, delta-v generation by several alternate means has been proposed or tried. If the infrastructure for delta-v generation remains light, deployable, and manageable, the further investigation of the economic case remains interesting. For this article we investigate tethers/rails in the Mars-and-moons system as support method to supply delta-v, to boost or decelerate spacecraft. The means of delta-v generation include both, mechanical and electro-magnetic options for acceleration and deceleration.
