    Abstract
In response to the tremendous volume of data that the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) handles, such as memberships, events, activities and team members data, SGAC has created on August 1, 2018 the new Data Management Team which also answers to the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") enforced by the EU on May 25, 2018. The SGAC Data Management team is responsible for the management of data across the entire organization, including analytic activities and compliance with privacy protections and security practices. The first part of the paper will detail how the SGAC has handled data in the past and how the volume of the data increased from the creation of the SGAC up to now, showcasing also trends in the space sector from the young generation’s perspective over the past 20 years. The second part outlines how data are currently managed within the organization showcasing challenges and bottlenecks in the data flow caused by processes, tools and human factors within an international organization. The third part describes the long term plan of the SGAC Data Management team how to handle the SGAC Data in the future, taking best practices and lessons learned into account from over 20 years, in order to define, collect, analyze and share data and how to improve data management at the SGAC from an end-to-end point of view.
