- Abstract
This paper presents a strategic and purpose oriented approach to future activities in the area of space resources. The strategy seeks to further develop knowledge and skills, while encouraging investment, particularly from the private sector, to develop and implement scientific, technological, operational and financial solutions. The strategy, also reflects the highly interdisciplinary and innovative nature of the endeavour and the interest that exists among international partners. As a result, ESA's new Space Resources Strategy is primarily a way to orchestrate the rich diversity of talent and expertise that today lies mostly fragmented or untapped across Europe, while ensuring a bold and ambitious role for Europe in the emerging new era of space exploration.
