- Abstract
In the previous decades, Space faring countries created their frameworks for sustainable exploration and development in space. Several space applications aimed to be problem-solvers of big issues like disaster management and helped to explore the outer space like the moon mission. Today, space faring countries are studying the possible new applications for the next decades. Despite the huge steps made by developed countries in this field, most of the developing countries were completely absent. Africa is a perfect example. In order to start investing now in space, we should first focus on the main applications needed for the interest of the region and their contribution to the global space development. We should also ask, how it will be possible to create a space ecosystem with the actual resources and capabilities. What would be the common benefit for African countries, the other developing countries and space faring countries to pursue an in-space or space-oriented economy. Which cooperation is needed to make the strategy work as well as which stakeholders would be involved? This work will first start by making a strategic ecosystem analysis, that will take Into particular account the main issues and capabilities of the African region and its position in the space market. Then this research paper will develop the potential space applications in africa that will suit the individuals´ needs as well as it will support the bigger goal by contributing to the sustainable development. The actual framework will be based on the utilization of space resources due to their great potential for the future. On another level, this framework will try to bring new approaches to a better governance, coordination, sustainability, and social institutions. It will expose the possible investment methods needed and will develop the necessity of the cooperation and contribution in capacity building; the continuous development of space science and technology insisting on the importance of Access and exchange of information, expertise and technology among States on a mutually acceptable basis. It will mention as well the ways to make the collaboration with the States and intergovernmental organizations, the contributions of the pioneer operators, the continuing supervision by the appropriate States or intergovernmental organisations. This work will resume the problematic with a unique approach of building blocks strategy that should be cost and time effective and it will give recommendations for the international collaboration.
